AUSTIN (Austin American-Statesman) – Commercial property foreclosures are rising more rapidly than home foreclosures in Travis and Williamson counties, up 139 percent this year, according to Foreclosure Listing Service.
In all, 523 properties were posted, an increase from 219 during the same period in 2008.
Office building postings remain the one exception to the rise in commercial foreclosures, down 36 percent in 2009.
Residential foreclosures are up 38 percent this year, said George Roddy Sr., president of Foreclosure Listing Service.
Commercial postings have accounted for about 8 percent of the area's totals this year.
